New AT Pro

:Hi, Today just purchased an AT Pro from a local distributer after weeks of research. Last year I finally decided to sell my GTP 1350 after much deliberation. I had my pick down to the fisher f-5, whites m-6 and the GTI 1500. I think the distributer staff pretty much talked me into buying the AT Pro. This, much to my wife's delight will be my birthday, father's day and christmas gift. Somehow I will need to slip in a bag and dust cover (if I can find one). I have not done much with this other than watch the many videos. It seems to be put together pretty good although I think I will miss the rubber grip and the aluminum shafts on the 1350. Maybe the new Garrett's are going to this style with the plastic lower shaft and foam grip. I did call Garrett before I bought this and was pretty much told that the Gtax 500, 1350, and possible the 1500 will be taken out of their lineup in late summer. Thanks for reading my long winded message and am really looking forward to using the AT Pro. One of the big reasons for getting back into this hobby is that I now have some time on my hands due to retirement and am looking for the adventure and exercise, Thanks again

Congrats. I am expecting to get my AT Pro Friday. If you find any useful hints for us new owners, please let us know.

Pocket gopher welcome to my world, retired 11 years. I watched 400 Netflix movies the first few years of retirement. My wife insisted that I get back into metal detecting after a few more years of retirement. I hadn't seen a metal detector in years. She needed some space. Now we adjust our days so I can get some detecting in and she can get some shopping in. Days with nothing going on for either one of us I am out detecting. She is so happy because I am gone. Oh, by the way some of my better finds (diamond rings and other nice jewelry) seem to go missing from my ring display box. I wonder who has them??? It makes no difference we are both glad I am back into metal detecting. It is my number 1 thing I do now. Hope you enjoy detecting again. Happy Trails....Z

Hey Pocket Gopher,

You're going to love this machine. Simple and effective... Anyhow, I wanted to give you a heads-up if you buy a Garrett carrying bag, the AT pro is a tight fit. It will fit, however. It took me several tries and an eventual call to the Garrett plant to get it to fit. BTW the 30.00 canvas bag is the one that fits the AT. The 50.00 + heavy duty vinyl bag didn't work for me and I had to send it back

I have had two high end machines the AT Pro beats them, both.

Thanks for the info on the bag - just getting ready to order one. Any ideas as to what Garrett recommends for a display cover?

I see that a lot of enthusiasm there is among you holders for this atpro, as has happened to me from January that I use him/it, started to find coins europa on beach and then in water and also 2 rings gold, 5 silver and copper and some ancient coins among 1700 1900 because of excavations for passage pipelines some have remained above or few deep.
but the most beautiful joy and last Wednesday, after all to an artificial lake for production electricity, momentarily almost void I have found 18 coins together in same hole, I picked up coins and it played anchor, in 31 years of hunting with MD had never happened me
I am sorry to be 75 years old and it misses strength to use MD for 10 hours as you have old times, later maximum 5 hours I have to stop chasing for tiredness
ATPRO is stupendous, I hope for to use he/she anchors him/it the more possible
I attach photo where I have found the coins together
good luck to everybody
