New AT Pro..settings/tips??

Hi guys, just purchased a new AT Pro and was wonderingif any of you guys could give any advice on tips or settings you use. I’m basically looking for coins and relics and maybe jewelry. I inboxed it yesterday and found over $2.00 in modern coins in my front yard. I’ve upgraded from the Garrett 250 so I’m somewhat familiar with the machine. Just curious of what settings are best for shooting mostly coins. Any help is greatly appreciated!!

Pro zero mode. That's what everyone is going to tell you. Personally, I run a custom mode that's close to the zero but with iron disc around 20 and sensitivity one notch down.

Rely on the tones more than the display. I've dug silver dimes that didn't even show up on the display, but had a faint high tone. Also, dig anything that is repeatable. I found a silver ring last Saturday at a solid 53 which is almost always pull tabs. However, the number did not budge off of 53 no matter which way I came at it. Don't think that every target has to sound good from 2 directions. I dug close to 300 Canadian dimes last year and I would say 80% only sounded good from one direction.

Take your time and dig everything in the beginning until you know your machine.

Enjoy!

On the pro zero mode, what would you recommend to run your sensitivity at? I see a lot of posts saying to set the iron disc at 35. Btw, i have the stock coil i hear that’s trashier. Does the coin mode lose depth? Why wouldn’t you want to run in coin mode if that’s what you’re shooting for? Sorry for the over load of questions!

Practice should include placing known items in the lawn and understanding the signature of each item. Learn to eliminate trashy items and the different sounds. Test on known gold items, foil, pull tabs, nails, screws, etc. Peace Roy

Be flexible, try all settings, remember how your machine reacts, take notes if necessary. You have no control over the soil content or moisture level. Have fun. Peace Roy

Kind of depends on what and where hunting. I have fun in local parks with desc set pretty high to eliminate Al & Fe trash. Keep sensitivity/depth set low because I don't want to dig deep holes in the park. It will miss a few things like this. If on a beach or relic hunting then Pro Zero.

Be sure to read the book a few times and research the past conversations on the forums. There's a few good videos out on the inter-web too.
