Will it work to set up a test plot in my basement with 2-3 gal flower pots elevated off the floor to get to know my new machine over the winter. Plan is to test different targets
on edge vs flat, sand vs dirt, dry vs wet soil, and different ground balance and sensitivity settings. Big question, is 2-3 gals of dirt enough to get good test results?

I would think you might get some EMI problems and reaction to other metals in the house, but would be better than just sitting around. Go ahead and have some fun with it!!

Should do ok. Best test gardens are ones planted in the ground for several months if not years.

It should really get you started using the iron audio, depth readout, bottle cap id, different modes and muscle building. :)
