I'm new to detecting, and here in Illinois it has rained the whole weekend (2 days) and more forcasted for Monday!:rage: When and if it ever does stop raining, can I use my F2 at the local gravel pit swimming holes? The have been used for years, and have sand beaches. I didn't know if the MD would work with wet sand (fresh water, not salt water). Thanks,Ron

I bought a Minelab Xterra 705 Gold Pack and am having trouble actually pinpointing with the coil that came with the detector. I can't determine where the actual item is since the coil is oval and I'm not sure where to dig. Any advice?

Metal Detectors work better when the soil is Wet. They give better depth than when the soil/sand is dry.

Try placing a dime on the ground. Try pinpointing until you understand what the machine is telling you. The visual/audio will help you to learn to pinpoint. It takes practice with any machine.

Your detector will work fine at that spot. Joe

Hello Ron,
I too am in Illinois and you are right about the rain brother. Where are you in the state and where are some places to detect? I am new to the hobby and just trying to learn more.

If you had an AT Pro you can hunt in the rain if you choose to do so. Water proof, great coin and jewelry machine, hard combination to beat.
