New Ace 350 coil

G'day from downunder :ausflag:

That new 11" DD coil interests me for my Ace250.
Does anyone know what the coil on its own with skid plate will sell for ?
Kellyco has the Excelerator 10x14 on sale for $130....and its 3" longer
the other thing is the weight...anyone know how much it weighs v's the 10x14 Excelerator weight ?
Trying to figure out which coil would be best for me to cover ground quickly - detecting after events.
Thanks

In another post, Uncle Willy said that it's gonna cost $149.95 for GTI and $139.95 for the rest(retail). I don't know about the weight, but I do know that Garrett's makes their search coils with that cement-like epoxy, so they are made to last forever, but a bit on the heavy side. Nothing against Detech/Excellerator, I use and love their search coils, they are lighter in weight, but they are foam-filled/not Rhinotough like Garretts. Hope this helps to answer your question.:biggrin:Happy Hunting!:)

:usaflag:Terra1959....I like your description... "skid plate" ....as opposed to "coil cover"...I think it best describes my detecting prowness in and around rocky areas. I should have a few extra skid plates around for good measure.

$140 for the new coil? I better sell a few more coins to come up with that.

Given that the promo links here describing the 350 as weighing 1.25kgs, I'd say that it weighs only marginaly heavier than the standard coil.

I think the Garrett coil is lighter. Still too early to tell as most of this stuff is still under production or getting ready for production.and already Garrett is miles behind. I think they shot themselves in the foot by leaking the news early. The price on the coil at full retail will be $149.95 for the GTI and $139.95 for the 550,1350,150, and 250. Will let all know when I know more. This new Euro version should be a real boon to the folks across the pond.

Yeah they're probably pretty close. I've been playing with the Excelerator and it is a bit heavy, especially for us old farts. HAA.
