Hello all, I`m Scott from Mulino a small town in Oregon. Thanks in advance for all your advice and tips and techniques, as I`ve been reading this forum for awhile now.Met Monty today who posts here sometimes, while coinshooting after the local rodeo.
the tally so far>>>>12 quarters, 17 dimes, 1 nickel, 75 pennies.
and one large nose ring, a nice avon earring. and lots of junk.
been hunting about two months now, trying to get out when I can.HH to all and see you in the field, Ill post a pic when I figure out how to make it small enough to fit.

Hi, I use an old version of "thumbs" for most quick
picture editing, converting, etc.. In general, most
of the forums require a max of about 120k per pix.
So you need a viewer/converter program like thumbs, etc,
etc, that can further compress a picture.
IE: Say I have a pix that is 520k. I can view and then
save it as a new pix, but I can use a greater level of
compression, and shrink the file size down.
Often with little change in obvious quality.
Depends what you start with.. As an example, I posted a
color pix of a big rattlesnake a couple of weeks ago.
I had to further compress it to fit the limit, but it
hardly changed the obvious quality as it was good to
begin with.
Good luck on the 250..I run the same here...

Hi Scott
If you get the chance, join a detecting club in your area.Apart from having an excellent forum here to learn from, you'll also have some folks who can give you some hands on advice.A post on the X-Terra forum here a few days ago, indicated that Monty ran a 2 day training course through one of the clubs. The course included a history of detecting, a detailed explanation on how detectors work,as well as some hands on training on how to get the most out of your detector, regardless of the brand.
Monty also just got a huge rap, by those on that forum, and it was not undeserved.Monty would have to be one of the cleverest person's that your ever going to come across in the field of metal detecting.
I just hope the poor guy doesn't read this post, as his probably still blushing from the rap he got the other day.
Good hunting with the new machine,
Mick Evans.
