New 9.5''coils for 6.59 khz?

I was wondering if any of you with a older 6.59khz. detector replaced your old old 9.5'' coil with the new style one? If so did you see any difference in performance? I was wondering as I sent in my 6000 xl-pro to be checked out while they still had parts and they said they had to replace the coil as in failed a frequency test? It suprised me as it was running O.K.,But thought since parts are low better send it in before they run out. I wonder if it will have any better depth or smoother performance? Anyone else done this with there older whites 6.59 khz detector Eagle,5900.6000 di,etc. and seen any difference? Thanks.

I sent in a Silver Eagle and a XLT spectrum and both of those coils failed as well and were replaced with the new coils, I have not heard back from either to as what they think, but I am sure the newer coil has better windings,it just wont cut through shallow water as well as they are thicker.

I heard along time ago from a fellow detectorist on one of the forums is that the black max 950 thin coils (shown below) were more sensitive vs. the newer types. Don't ask me about details cuz I don't know. This is just what I heard.

Is more sensitive good or bad? I got mine back the other day with the new coil and it seems smoother and just as hot in an air test. I still have to get it out in the feild though. Waiting for the snow to melt and get above freezing.

5 or 6 years back I bought a new thicker 9.5 coil for my whites 5900 and to me it did not seem to go as deep or be as sensitive as the original thin pancake coil... so I just put the older thinner pancake coil back on and kept the newer coil for a back up....it would be nice if they send the old coil back to you so you can choose for your self if one is better than the other....

Whites will send your old coil back with your detector if you request them to do so. I'm lucky to have read before that old coils weren't necessarily being sent back so I specifically asked for it back which is not a problem.
