New 8" Tornado.

Well Fed Ex delivered a nice little box fromKellyco this morning. However, just my luck it spit rain all morning. Then this afternoon it was like a hose had been turned on for about 45 mins. Boy did we need the rain. So hopefully tomorrow morning the new coil will get a work out. Sure looks small next to the 12x10. We'll see in the morning.

Good luck with that coil. I'd love to hear your impressions of that little coil compared to the 12x10 and any other coils for you. In particular, I'd like to hear if you think the width of the DD line on the 7 & 1/4" Tornado is thinner than the 12x10. I'm telling you, maybe I'm way off base but I swear that 12x10 feels like it's DD line is sharper than even my S-5. But even if that were true, of course a smaller coil is going to shine above the 12x10 in it's shorter length than 12" for separation in that respect. I really should use that S-5 more and see if that impression of how sharp the 12x10 DD line is compared to it is a reality or not.

Also like to hear if you find you can run sensitivity higher with the 8" Tornado than you can the 12x10 at the same site. The 12x10 lets me run sensitivity a good bit higher usually than the 10" Tornado at some of my sites. Just curious how the 8" coil does in that respect.

Right now there are two coils on my wish list to add to my line up some day. The 13" Ultimate (if it pans out being how good of a coil it looks to be and has a few unique traits that are different than my 12x10 primary coil), and the 8" Tornado. I've read of so many guys prefering the 8" Tornado as their every day coil over the 10" Tornado and making some great finds with it at pounded out sites due to it's small size for excellent separation and the outstanding depth it gets, that I just have to try one of those little buggers myself at some trashy sites and see how it compares to my S-5, which I love.

Also am curious if it might get more depth at some of my more mineralized sites than a larger coil, because I have read of a few Sovereign guys in the past who said it got more depth for them than their 10" Tornado in really bad ground, and I've also experienced this myself on some of my other non-Minelabs in the past in say ground loaded with black sand.

John, run your sensitivity much higher on the smaller coil.Another benefit a little faster sweep speed can be used.Good luck with the new coil.HH Ron PS you should notice a weight difference.

Well, I was going out this morning but it was spitting rain so I chickened out. I pulled a 1952 nickel last week from the park I want to go to. I had the 12x10 maxed out at the same park with no issues we'll see what the 8" will do.

Yep, go back to those trashy areas and hit em' again with the 8" tornado. You will be surprised - I certainly was. Have fun! - Jim
