New 6000 Pro XL Owner

Hi Guys, I just bought a 6000 Pro XL, from an elderly gentlemen in one on the local retirement communities and it looks like it is new. He bought it new 8 years ago, it came with the 600, 800, and 9.5 coils. I have been metal detecting for about 10 years and have owned a lot of detectors during that time and I have to say the XL Pro is just flat fun to operate, simple to set up and deadly accurate on shooting coins. Right now I have the white colored Blue Max 600 coil on it and I am surprised at the depth it is getting.

I have been reading the tips on this and other forums and right now the weather here in the desert is in the 70's, so I am good to go. I am going to hit some old hunting sites, to see if I missed anything.

Hi Colt,

Run a Search for 6000 Pro XL ... select Exact Phrase. In

I have read his post on various forums for the past ten years, thanks to Monte, I have become a student of using the All Metal mode on metal detectors. From what I have learned by researching the XL Pro, it is one of the more versatile metal detectors. I like the true no motion GEB/NORM All Metal, the GEB/SAT All Metal, I have not played with the TR mode much, I am going to have to check it out.

Hey Colt,

I've been using mine (*XL Pro) for several years and I'm pleased with the results. It has been the work horse for many years. The operating freq. is 6.592 KHz. which at the time was a set by Whites as a general hunting freq. Glad you got several coil sizes; they're several other sizes including the 1500 (15") for deep targets and the bigfoot coil (not manuf. anymore) if you don't have these. Sure wish Whites or someone else design a DD coil for it.

I put together a quick cheat-sheet from the manual and so that I can fold and put in my pocket when I'm out in the field, I call it the XL Pro Quick Set-Up, so here you go.

1. Place all controls to their position except MODE, set this to GEB/NORM. Squeeze and Release Trigger on the handle.

2. Hold the loop at waist level. Squeeze and Hold Trigger, adjust the TUNER control for a slight threshold (edge of sound). Release Trigger.

3. Keeping the loop at waist level, Push the AUTO GEB switch to AIR and Hold it. . . wait for beep. Lower the loop to the ground and Pull AUTO GEB switch to the GND AUTO/TRAC position. Hold the loop steady, wait for beep. If you happen to be directly on top of metal <OR> movement of the loop will cause a

Colt,

You didn't say if you have a manual for your detector. So here is the link for one, http://media.whiteselectronics.com/manuals/Coinmaster%20Manuals/CM%206000%20Pro%20XL%20Instruction%20Manual.pdf

Good Luck,

A copy of the manual came with the 6000 Pro XL, I have read it a couple of times. I appreciate the tips, so far the learning curve have not been to bad, one thing that helps is, I have owned and used a lot of detectors. I have used the DFX, XLT, MXT, and Classic IDX, with Mr. Bills mods. I have also used the Explorer, GTI-2500 and a few mixed breads.

I must say, I am really enjoying the 6000 Pro XL, it is a fun machine to use and the quality is top notch. I feel very lucky to get one in such good condition, plus get a couple of extra coils. Now all I need is more time to get out and hunt, I will keep you posted on what I find.

Thanks for all of your help

duggr, I would like to see a 6x9 DD for it, I have one on my Baron GoldTrax and it is just about the right size, not to big and not to little.

Just Purchased a 6000 XL Pro myself to compliment my other Analog!

I had a Mark 1 years ago, it was good coin shooter. The 6000 Pro XL meter reminds me of the Mark 1 meter, I wonder if George Payne had anything to do with the 6000 Pro XL. I think he worked at Whites about that time.

xl pro IS one of the best coin snipers of all time!..keep the "bullseye" on it,and go slow
in (s.a.t.) mode!..you can operate with a slower sweep speed in that mode, and it does make a difference!
