TRY SETTING THE DISCRIMINATOR AS HIGH AS IT WILL GO
AS YOU GET BETTER CUT THE DISCRIMINATION LOWER
YOU WILL GET COINS
HAD THIS MACHINE AND WORKS VERY GOOD
TRY A SLIGHTLY LESS BUSY SPOT THAN YOU WERE AT TO COMPARE

yeah i just got mine and it works well, when i goe out i reject everything up to screwaps and i never get the reading of foil reject everything except $$$$$$$$$$$$,and you should be ok. it works for me and i always come home with a pouch of change and no foil.also set your ground balance before you do anything, good luck and happy hunting.:detecting:

A good way to get familiar with it is to toss your own group of test objects on the ground and check them. The detector won't care if they are buried or not while you learn it. Since you can see it's a quarter or a nail, foil or washer, you know what to expect for an accurate ID. that's better for now than all the unknown things you're detecting that are hidden in the ground.

Now you can play with settings to reject the junk and still detect the coins and you'll see and hear how it sounds on them. Notice how two different items close to each other can make your detector act r seem confused. A good operator on a good machine can "separate" these confusing signals, but it takes a lot of swinging and listening and digging to learn that.

For now, and maybe even always, make it a point to dig up the "iffy" signals. That's the only way to really learn what's down there and gain that experience. After a few foil bits or 22 slugs, bottlecaps or quarters, you'll get a good feel for what the detector is saying to you.

The detector is only making "educated" guesses, there's too many variables for it to be as accurate as, say, your doctor is at guessing at your ailment! ;)

I had a better day today I found about 80 cents but it still seems very erratic I turned sensitivity way down and disc up and it still
tags things all over the scale but i'm not giving up gonna make a test garden and see what things should hit at
thanks for the suggestions

TRY SESNSITIVITY ON THE LOWEST SETTING
THEN ONLY DIG COINS IN THE COIN RANGE THAT DO NOT BOUNCE MORE THAN 5 NUMBERS
EXAMPLE IF SWINGING COIL TO LEFT YOU GET 180
AND THEN 175 TO 185 WHEN YOU SWING RIGHT TRY DIGGING IT
BUT FOR EXAMPLE IF YOU GET 180 TO LEFT AND 160 TO RIGHT,,,,, IGNORE IT
REMEMBER IF YOU ARE GOING TO A PARK THAT THAT ONLY HAS PEOPLE IN IT ONCE A WEEK
OR WAS RESODDED IN THE LAST TEN YEARS IT MAY NOT HAVE MANY COINS
