NEW 10" DD 7.5mHz and pinpointing

As with any DD coil, your approach to pinpointing is a bit different than with a concentric coil. Remember, the "hot zone" on a DD coil runs from the midpoint (going across the coil), and from front tip to the back end of the coil. The easiest way for me to pinpoint with any coil is to simply X over it from a variety of directions. I seldom use the pinpoint mode on any of my detectors. However, I have found myself using the Prospecting mode as an audio pinpointing tool. Anyway, when you pass your coil over the target, make a mental note of where the stongest signal is coming from, left to right. Then center the coil over that signal and drag it toward you. The signal should end just as the front tip of the coil passes beyond the target. Simply dig your hole at that spot, where the front tip of the coil lost the signal. Hope this helps. HH Randy
