Never too much Info

Guys, all the information I give can be found in the manuals. Everyone with a V3i, V3 or VX3 should read the VX3 manual. Carl does an excellent job of explaining how the detectors work. It is loaded with tips.

If you want to see all the program adjustments that can be made read the V3 manual.Check the program chart at the back.

All the V3i users should check the on board manual. It is well written.

If you don't take the time to understand what the adjustments do, you will never get the full potential of the Spectras.

All manuals can be downloaded on the Whites site.

In all fairness, the information in the manuals, yes manuals with the plural notation that there are more than one...that information isn't easy to digest and these discussion sites are key in getting to the real meat sometimes. I bet that I read the manual for my V3i and the V3 five times before getting delivery back in 2010 and more reading since then. It simply takes talking to actual users from the field many times. A re-write of both the V3 and V3i manuals combined, with refinements in the flow so the V3i is more understandable to Joe and Sally, is overdue imo.

I still struggle with key settings I'm not that used to using regularly, and personally, I am not going to go and read 2 manuals all over again. This what God created discussion boards for ;-) jm2c martin

Don't forget "Rob's Links" page.... http://www.findmall.com/read.php?66,1951992 ..... a great selection of succinct information. Rob has done a fantastic job there.

Oh well. :goodnight:

I had to read the manual, and there were no boards for me. When we started there wasn't even a manual.
I still recommend the VX3 manual for a good read.

I have actually never read the VX3 manual Rob. My mistake, and I will fix that. Thanks, martin

The vx2 online manual was what convinced me to buy it over an e-trac. I have read it many times. Twice this week in fact. I wish that was all that is required to be a master detectorist. But it's not. It takes years as we all know. That is where this forum excels. We all benefit from the experience and technical expertise that guys like Rob and Larry and others have developed over many years of detecting. Those things are not in the manual. I appreciate that these guys are willing to take the time to share their knowledge with the rest of us.

Just got my V3i and I have read the manual several times. I am here to tell you that I don't consider myself knowing Jack about the detector. Hopefully today I will be able to go out and hunt with it.

Go online and read the vx3 manual as suggested earlier. The vx3 is basically the same machine with less settings and options, but the manual explains the workings of the machine a little better. Sorry about the typo in the previous post. (VX2).
