I have often said I would never post a wheat cent on the forums. I have literally found 1000's of them. I think today I'll make an exception. I got this 1914D this morning. This one has a LOT of detail. I might get this one graded. Check your Red Books on this one;) I hope everyone got to dig today.

the wheatie passiveness out of anyone! Congrats Tony! Believe it or not, I got one just like it yesterday with the Edge....... well, minus that "D" thingee.

I post a few every now and again just to show that I am out huntin a lot and findin a little. But that is a nice wheat. Don't have no red book so I can't help U there. I hope its worth a million tho.

What a beaut! It must be a good feeling to find a key date that is actually in decent condition. Congrats again on an oustanding find!

Being new to coin collecting....... I know you mean a 1909S, but what does the VDB stand for?

http://www.pcgs.com/prices/ is a good link for prices a bit more up-to-date than the book. Open each specific coin for the most recent auction activity.

I don't believe PCGS will grade a dug coin because what they describe as "environmantal damage", so don't mention how it was found.

That one's a dandy! Congratulations.

Even cleaned in EF-40 one sold for $400.

I appreciate the link. I have used ANACS in the past, but I'll check these guys out too. I think any coin that comes out of the ground is going to get a "Net Grade" for "Environmental damage" or they will call it "Cleaned". This one should grade "XF" on details but will probably net out around "Choice Very Fine" or less because it's been in the ground. The other thing is that grading is subjective and if you don't like your grade you can send it in again! If the grade goes up, they will re-slab it, but they won't lower their own grade.
