Never Know where you might find treasure....

One never knows when they are upon treasure until they start looking. Here is a story that Gulf Hunter wanted me to share with everyone.
I went to the thrift store to try and find some material to sew with, and well, I made a deal with the lady there on a small box of material that she was ready to unload. I asked her to hold on to it and that I wanted to shop a bit more, well, I found me some tops and then came across this cut little purse, I have wanted one for some time, but could not find the right size and black, so I settled for the tan one and made my purchase total of $4.00. I got out to my truck and was looking at the stuff I got and then checked out the purse again, and figured I got a good deal. I came home and put most of it up and then there was the purse to decide what I would do with it. Well I checked inside and made sure there was not any trash, there is the big compartment and then there is a smaller compartment as well, I unzipped the small zipper and I looked in there and was in awe when these two shiny earrings where peeking back at me, I was like, WOW!, I took them out and got the loupe and started searching for something, I came across 21K. Now, I have had the urge to take them back to her and let her know they where in the purse, but I have not had the time to get back to her shop, I do plan to take them over to her and let her know that maybe she needs to check those purses and bags a little more closely when they come into her shop. This is an exciting tale and I hope you enjoyed it.
I tried to get the 21K in the pic but gave up, I am not sure how some of you get that close up on those items that you post, an suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I'd be in there on a regular basis checking them out myself. Why let her find all of "my" treasure? therick

Get youself a mini tripod for your camera, put it in macro mode, and use the timer on your camera. That will eliminate any motion. You should also have a good photo editing program like Adobe Photoshop. And remember, just because you're zoomed in close to the object, that doesn't mean it will be in focus. You should be able to take a picture of jewelry markings at about 6-8" and then zoom in with your photo editing program and have them come out fairly clear.

I have a tripod and the camera has the macro mode, just have to read the book again. Thanks a bunch, will give it a try

Everyone needs to visit a thrift shop from time to time. Many great bargins On things you may not really need at the time but are compelled to buy. Your new earrings are super but how about your conscious? Bought a Schwinn 10 speed one time for 10 bucks with two flat tires (Lake Havasu) went back to my winter home pumped up the tires and still riding the bike 7 yrs later.
I would suggest you go back and tell the lady that something was found in the purse you purchased that someone may ask about. If so, here's an e-mail address to reach you. If they describe the item precisely it's theirs. Your conscious will be clear and you will continue to have a neat find! Good Hunting!:please:

You are so very correct, my conscious is tuned in, I felt quilty for having something that I did not purchase. I plan to get back over there within the next week, have to go out of twon this week, but will go after I return and do what you suggested, Thanks

Just a word of caution. People don't generally react well to being told they were careless, or let something "get by" them. If you just "have to", I'd simply mention there was an "item" left in the purse, and if anyone ever asks, they can have it back by describing it. Then I'd zip my lip, don't tell the woman what it was.
if you do, I guarantee, ABSOLUTELY POSITIVELY guarantee, that you will quickly receive a call, or visit from someone claiming the items.
Sad to say, they will almost certainly have been coached by the store person as to what the item was. I've seen it before.
In this day and age, you may even be accused of stealing the earrings!! Be careful.

Thanks for the advice, I will keep that in mind, this store has so much stuff in it, the owner does not have the time to look at each and every piece, she just puts most of it where it can be seen and moves on to other items, so maybe I should just keep my mouth shut about this.
I appreciate all the input that I am getting from everyone, it helps me to think about what I should really do.
Thanks a bunch.
