Never know what one might find on the Internet...

I ran across some videos on line about metal detecting. Broadband would make these better viewing as it takes a long time to see some of these videos - and there are lots of them. Some are excellent and others are definitely amateur but still useful.

For those who have patience - or want to make another pot of coffee while waiting for the dial up downloads it will be worth the time.

This one is well - 6 minutes long - and ... can you see any glaring errors?

Here is another video - more professional type job of filming too:

Cold Harbor, VA Relic and Civil War detecting video (7 min 28 sec):

Here's a long one (23 minutes)for the Minelab Excaliber (underwater detector):

Not going to post all the links. Be careful what you watch as there are some 'other metal detector' (airport security type) where people are disrobing before going thru the scanner - not what you want kids or anyone else to view.

If you see the first video I posted the link for, let us know what errors you see the person(s) making so others can learn from the mistakes. New detectorists may learn and also keep from losing more detecting locations due to negligence or carelessness.

for the links. No chance here with my turtle down loads. :(

can't remember the name but it's on @ 10pm Tuesdays. Had Larry cissna who runs the depot diggin for relics. Supposed to be a treasure show.

Blessings!

Especially on this rainy day = thanks ! The minelab one was very much selling their machine while running down all others. The first video had the guy swinging his machine like he had a Weed Whacker. Never have understood why they say/show to keep the coil 5-6 inches above the soil. Thanks for the lin nks,
Steve in so az

and the guy would have been great with a handheld pinpointer or a SunRay probe for the detector. Lots of errors made - good thing it was the guys first time in his own yard or some parks guy would be closing the park to detecting all together.

The Minelab one was interesting and definitely liked seeing the underwater aspect - even without the detector being the center of attention.

We have some white stuff up here this morning - light coating - nothing to shovel or plow though.
