I have been trying for two years now to get access to hunt a patch of 5 acres of private parkland. Well I just got it. The site was used by British regulars early 1800's, as well as there is evidence of an earlier settlement on the site. 20 or so years ago I hunted across the street from it and found a fair number of mid and earlier 1800's stuff, coins included.
I am so stoked about this site, It has been owned by the same family for over two hundred years. There used to be parties in the early 1900's and the remains of the manse still exist.
There is one catch, I have until the first week of june to hunt. Then the bulldozers come in.

I have learned also that persistance and patience does pay. Good luck to you and let us know how it turned out.

Of course, AFTER the bulldozers have scraped the ground, it might be a whole new opportunity...right?

I agree with Coppersnipe...Once the bulldozers come in ask for permission when they are not working..Indeed one never knows what you might get....

If you need a hand, let me know <img src="/metal/html/biggrin.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":D"> <img src="/metal/html/biggrin.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":D">
Good Luck and let us now how you fare.

Mrs, CZ5( prizmIV) actually and I went out in a light drizzle this aft to scope out the land.
FOund a line of cedars that have to be over 100 years old they are at least 2" through the center, just the odd bit of iron and one piece of shiny, molten, heavy, metal and 3 links of some very old chain 10" down in the midst of three trees marking a 6 foot circle.
The rest of the property is covered in massive evergreens and some even larger maple stumps, one was over 4' across.
I found a cap gun about 3" down in the roots, "lone rider". I found a brass hinge nearer to the manse foundations. No coins of any kind yet, or other personal affectations.
It is overwhelming as to how big this site is. Luckily it is off the beaten path and privacy is absolute. The old well has a cement cap on it so no fear of finding it by accident. The place is beautiful, too bad about the construction. The ground is so wet that everything is banging high tones right now so I will give it a day to settle down before I head back.
If you all want I might try and give a daily chronicle of the hunt, it just smells like this is going to be like the good old days.

I know that I myself would enjoy reading a daily report from you. I am pulling for you.

It's unanimous, a report will be written up every day that I go. It should be pretty regular since my time in there is limited and urgent.
Thank you for your support.

That was the plan <img src="/metal/html/smile.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":)"> <img src="/metal/html/smile.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":)"> once I have been there for a while they are just gonna luv me and my pretty face sooo much that they will not be able to deny me anything.

Rained all day yesterday.
I got out today for an hour and finally started to find goodies. The open areas have nothing in them so far other than bits of iron trash and some canfetti. I am hunting with no discrimimination. The ground is still full of floating hightones, refuse to pinpoint in the same place twice, iron, iron ,iron.
But, I started to hunt near the foundations and in the last 10 minutes I hit the sweet hightone that didn't budge....1913 English one penny at 4" in very worn but not corroded shape. Two feet away, a silver appetiser fork at 6". It was in an art deco style in perfect condition.
I am working the bases of all of the trees but only found the capgun until now under them. The well head has an iron target the size of a T4 tank. I will be checking it out tomorrow.
