Nevada Gold found with White's GMT

Closeup of a 1.7 gram specimen I found recently near Winnemucca, NV with my White's GMT. This and a few other pieces are my first Nevada gold! The GMT is excellent on gold like this that PI detectors have a hard time seeing. I could not get my GPX 5000 to see this little specimen even on top of the ground. The GMT had no problem getting it several inches into the ground.

That sure is a purdy one.

I guess a gmt/gmz or a gb2 needs to go onto my "want list"

Hi Steve,
Your specimen is a perfect example why a guy needs to have a VLF and a PI to cover all the ground he can. We here in NV are lucky to have so much diversity in the type of gold hunting we can do. Your speci is so nice to my eyes because the quartz is so pure white. Usually there is a lot of mineral staining in it.

Good Luck! Welcome to NV, and leave some for the rest of us!

No one detector gets all the gold, at least not yet. I wait for the day when one machine can be dialed in to do anything it takes several units these days to achieve.

Rye Patch for one, pounded though it is. Still, gold is found there. Unfortunately though finding good places takes either lots of research or knowing the right people.

I don't think theres an open inch of ground in the Majuba placers (Rye Patch), its just such a well known spot that the claim/lease holders can't keep up with the high graders.

Will do!
