nel tornado on silver umax

Well i just got home from test driving my new nel tornado 12x13 on my silver umax and i realized i need a shovel hahahahaha. The tornado has excellent build quality and comes with a coil cover and very thick cable that suppresses emi. the nel is stable enough that i can run the sensitivity wide open with no chattering , i can also do that with the stock coil. I believe that is because of the mild mineralization of missouri soil. I started off searching a small park with a baseball field and sand volleyball court , i naturally hit the sand first so i could dig everything with ease. First find was a bottlecap at 8 inches , the stock coil will also do that , but several minutes later i started hitting bottlecaps at 12 to 14 inches. I cleaned the sand lot of bottlecaps and small pieces of wire and assorted trash that somehow finds it's way into sand hahahaha. Now it's time for dirt , i headed over to the shelter and then i realized i need a shovel because my lesche digger is good but the nel can find a bottlecap at 14 inches in dirt also. It sounded like i went over a buick hubcap , or the whole car. Then i came home for lunch and to write this up. I'm very impressed with the nel and it's performance. The weight is not far off from the stock coil and it balances out well. My arms are tired from digging , not the larger coil.

That good to know. Thanks for sharing.

I figured i would post something about a nel on a silver umax because as much as i found on the nel coils there is little to no info on the silver. Now i'm gonna go tear up my front yard.

I appreciate your info on the NEL coil. I have read where several people have said that the Silver with the Tesoro 10 x 12 in mild soil is the deepest Tesoro made. That bigger NEL would only be better yet. I am interested in hearing how it does on target separation with that larger NEL. Seeing it is a DD coil, I would think it still might be okay. Let us know and keep us posted. You definitely got my attention!

Right on. i'll be back in here after i go out in the am , i gotta go out early to beat the rain. From what i've seen so far the pinpointing is spot on and the depth is fantastic. I'll hit some of the trashier parks to check out the seperation.

Alright , i finally got out again and the target seperation is really good for a 12x13 inch coil. I completely cleaned an old playground at the lake by my house and it only took me about an hour. The bigger coil definitely covers more ground faster. I was pulling pulltabs and a couple of bottlecaps around 12 inches and then came a dime at 10 inches with an old rusted screw right next to it and i heard both signals very clearly. I'm sure the nel will go deeper but it was doing really good today in the very trashy lake playground. All these pulltabs and bottlecaps make me think there are a ton of alcoholics in the kansas city area hahahahaha. I'm sure you could coin shoot with this big ole nel , but i think the stock coil on the silver umax would do better in trashy parks. Or the nel hunter would be awesome as well , I'm trying to justify buying the hunter but can't just yet because i have a vaquero coming in on thursday and i might get the hunter for the vaq instead. so if your on the fence about getting a nel coil get off the fence and get to ordering , you will not be disappointed.

I don't think I would be using that big coil in trashy areas unless you enjoy digging bottlecaps. You'll find a lot more coins and a whole lot less trash with the smaller coil.

I would agree a big coil like that is not the best option for trashy sites like playgrounds, you stand a high chance of 'nulled' signals especially if it picks up the trash this will then discriminate the good target/s out at the same time, small coils are always best for those types of sites and the NEL is for more clean open spaces.

Just my opinion of course.

I forgot to mention that it used to be a playground , now its a 40 ft square sand patch in the grass. I have hunted it many times with the stock 8 inch coil so it was pretty clean , i just needed depth. Theres a couple of these old stripped out playgrounds there , one of them is pretty heavily filled with can slaw , but it still produces coins. I didn't dig anything above 8 inches it was all deep signals in the sand , now the grass on the way back to the car was a different story hahahaha. It was littered with pulltabs that you could see , so i might go back and hit the grass with the compadre and then the silver again.
