Nel Coil on AT pro

Waterdog

Well-known member
I was thinking about the nel coil on a Garrett AT pro. But when i watched the video on you tube it looked like the numbers jumped all over the place and I was wondering if anyone with a Nel coil had the same results?

I have used the NEL Sharpshooter on two of my A T Pro's and they work fine. They are a fair amount deeper, in fact, then the 5 x 8. But, the Sharpshooter is a bit bigger. Can't speak for any of the NEL larger coils, but know a guy who uses the Hunter and hasn't taken it off since he got it. HH jim tn

DEAR : WATERDOG .... I have Garrett at pro and I used NEL thunder and snake coils . For beach and trashy area you can trust nel snake coil it's better than 8.5x11 with clear and clean voice and more depth . So with nel thunder you can get more depth around 11 to 14 inch . With nel coils you will always listen to the clear and clean targets voice . Regards

I have the tornado and the snake both are great coils on the Pro clear reports and much deeper coils love them both

I have the NEL Hunter on my AT Pro. --Love it! Great depth and separation. It is about 25% deeper than the stock AT Pro coil, and about 35% deeper than the 5x8 ----- I have no intention of ever taking it off. ----- The weight of it is very manageable too. Only about 2 oz's heavier than the stocker.

All I know is ,sometimes you got to try, so I have my sights on a NEL Hunter coil
For my AT Pro, I'm. Gonna give it a try and see what happens......
Best of luck ,,,,,, keep us posted,,,,,,,

Ok some one in the know explain to and old man what is the differences of these NEL coils

1 Tornado
2 Snake
3 Hunter
4 Thunder
5 sharpshooter

Been out of hunting for 3 years and all these are new to me...someone try to explain please

Buddy, I'm not sure if they are a sponsor here so I don't want to post a link, but NEL does have a website that shows the differences in the various coils.

OK I did some more looking.

1. Snake 6.5x3.5 10.5 oz
2. Sharp Shooter 9.5x5.5 12.3 oz
3. Hunter 12.5x8.5 17.2 oz
4. Tornado 12x13 19.7 oz
5. Storm 13x14 23.6 oz
6. Thunder 14.5x10.5 20.1 oz
7. Attack 15x15 23.3 oz
8. Big 15x17 32.4 oz

Now what is best...I have no idea.. But now I have an idea when a user says I use the snake or Hunter I know what size coils they are talking about.

The NEL website has numerical ratings for the qualities of each coil. You can compare depth, separation, sensitivity to small targets, and sensitivity to large targets.

CORS coils are the same with a different name on them.

Each coil has its own use...I have the NEL BIG and it is great for covering a lot of area in a short time. I use it for recently lost item searches. Where as a 4 inch coil fits nicely between joists in an atic when looking for a lost ring or in very trashy areas. Variables of depth, sensitivity, target seperation, coil design I.e. DD mono, concentric, weight, etc. makes it all boil down to what your objective for replacing a stock coil is. A personal preference!
