NEL coil on an mx5?

dirt lizard

Member
If they make NEL coils for an mxt I don't see why they would'nt fit the mx5 as well. Of course how it would work is another story.

I have not seen any place that has the NEL for the MXT for sale? I cant seem to find any info on them.

There is one for the m6 as well which coils are interchangable with the mx5.

Which one is for the M6, I only see ones for the Prizms and coinmaster. Wonder why they only made the coils for those machines ?

Coil technology hasn't changed since the day you were born. There is no magic coil. You can change the shape of the coil to change the shape of the feild slightly, maybe tune it a little bitter, but thats about it. There is no magic wire that makes the coil go deeper. You can read all the BS on these and other after market coils and that is just what is- BS. A coil is tuned to the freq of the detector by size and shape of coil, number of turns, diameter of wire, etc. There is a formula manufacturers use to determine this.

I don't believe any of the claims I have read. A guy says he tried it out and found a 9" dime. Big deal. Would the stock coil have found it? Probably. In their opinion it's deeper. What kinda of half a$$ testing is that? If you want to convince me do a comparison test in a seasoned test garden you two identical diameter coils. You can look all you want and you will see nobody has done this. The simple fact is this, these coils can't defy basic physics and they don't.

These coils work on the Placebo effect. They tell you they will go 30% deeper and suddenly you think you are going deeper. For any diameter coil the electromagnetic feild can only get so deep. 30% deeper is pure BS. The only way you could 30% deeper is to compare a 5" stock coil to a 13" NEL coil.

Rainyday has pretty well summed it up.
Here is some reading you might like to look over as well.

I have done alot of my own testing along with my buddies here locally on sef coils compared to stock. From air tests to in ground target tests. 10x12 sef against d2 10" whites. The sef is deeper and separates better. Ive never posted any vids on this cause i dont really do vids unless i have to. My friends and i all use same detectors , whites m6,mxtpro, v3i etc. just a simple air test gives alot of info as to how each coil performs. On the v3i the sef coils can be cranked up max and rx Boost on and run quiet and smooth .. Noone has to believe me i really dont care. And i do like whites coils. Im really happy with the new whites 9" spider coil. And ive always used and like the 6x10 dd great park coil.

There is a coil available for whites (vrated) from Ukraine but its not a Nel. It is a 12 "DD coil and retails for about $200. I saw one on ebay and watched the test vids on youtube.

The 10X12 is a very good coil, that has been my go-to coil every since it came out, first on the DFX and now the V3i. Depth is a little better than the White's D2 and you get more coverage and the ground noise rejection is much better with the SEF, at least in my mineralized ground. Better noise rejection means you can up the sensitivity or Gain for more depth.

Larry is that the White SEF ( v-rated ? )that you are talking about ? Thanks, GS

EXcelerator by Detech that is sold by Kellyco is what I use. I use the black one but the white one works just as good. The only difference is the white coil is nulled for 22.5 KHz for use on the V series. You don't need to use the white one for the MX5 if you can find a good deal on a black one.

Thank you Sir. I have the Black 8x6 and that one seems pretty good. I think i will get the 12x10 white SEF and try it out. Thanks again.
