neighbor had machine in the barn

Hi. I usually hang out in the bounty hunter sites but I need some info. on a fisher gold strike. My neighbor brought one to me that had been sitting in his barn, said he had taken it in trade from someone who owed him money but had never been able to figure out how to run it, could I help. I have the manual and should be able to get it up a running. would like to know any thing you can tell me about it. Is it old or new tech., is it good for nugget shooting, can it double for a coin & relic machine? any info would be helpful. thank you Ed in co.

Hi , I think you will find this a good machine , newer technology , I do not own one but have read good reviews about this machine . Type in Fisher Gold Strike Reviews in search on the internet and you will find out more , regards Zone

The Goldstrike is a specialized nugget hunting machine which was discontinued a few years back.It is a very capable detector from what I have researched but it`s operating characteristics are so different from other nugget machines that it failed to catch on.It also has a programing interface which can be annoying to set up for folks used to quickly turning a few dials. If you don`t have a manual you can download it from Carl`s site and it might still be on Fisher`s site.To do a search you might enter it as Goldstrike,Gold Strike,or just G$;I have seen it called all three.

I have been told by Mr Bill that some relic hunters up his way are trying it out as a relic detector but he hasn`t gotten any feedback from them yet.I have also read posts asking about using it for jewelry hunting in playgrounds and athletic fields but again I have no idea if this would work.It only discriminates iron and operates at 30khz so it`s design function as a gold nugget detector is perhaps its best use.I just bought one from Willy but it is enroute so I haven`t tried it out in the field yet.Good luck with it.

Thanks for all the good help will be interesting to see if I can get it set up for him. It is proof that this addiction we all share is extremely contagious. I have know this neighbor and two others for 4 years and detecting never came up in any conversations. After I became afflicted all four of them have drug out machines from the barn or the back of the closet and asked me to show them how to get going and could I take them dirt fishing. ED in co.

I almost forgot. If you scroll down to the metal detecting forum you will find a sticky at the top which links to a site with the Goldstrike manual and just about every other one besides.
