The knob that normally tightens the lower rod to the upper rod on my xlt; no longer will tighten. Is there a way to fix this? Thanks

Steve

Hi Steve,

I once had a camlock jam up in the closed position. I could not find a pan long enough to soak it in so I ran hot water on it from a tap and then wrapped a wet towel around it. When it finally loosened up, I saw a few grains of sand and some dirt residue in the towel. It has worked just fine since.

Is there is any possibility that sand or whatnot is jamming your camlock? If so, soak it in hot water for awhile and then work the camlock open and closed to try to clear the junk out.

I have never had to replace a camlock so cannot help you there. Hope it gets squared away for you soon.

Hunt4Fun's little nugget of advise is a piece of info that works with all kinds of plastic parts. It not only can clean the gunk out but the heat can relax the plastic and when it cools, the part can cool back to original intended shape (as long as no crimping of the part happened). I've used it on everything from Frisbee's to HandiMaskers to Bullseye II's. Good trick. If it doesn't work in your case, a rod is cheap but...bet it'll work.
