Thinking of getting a Garrett GTP 1350 . But I have a few questions. I'm told by some that it can't handle much more than "light mineral conditions" any truth to this? Also, some tell me that it's more suited for silver and coins....that it is not "hot" on gold rings and gold jewelry? And finally is it "hot" on low conductivity targets?? How is the unit for extended use (3 to 4 hrs ) . in it's on the rod form?? I 'm worried that it might be front heavy ?? I have noticed some sort of anti-Garrett bias in my area......even though the people telling me not to get a Garrett have never owned one....but some friend did and didn't do well with it. That's why I'm here to get help and honest answers hopefully from people who have used this model A big thanks...... to everyone who cares to help me out on this one!!!

The 1350 works well in most environments, but like all single frequency machines, high mineralization demands that you have to turn down the sensitivity, and often times, you lose depth Garrett is the ONLY company that has two patented means of sizing targets, so also keep that tucked in the back of your mind. It will sound off on gold ring too. Gold will show up all over the meter, depending on its purity and what it is mixed with. And a good machine for coins and silver....you bet! One of the best

Anti Garrett Bias? No problem....there is anti-bias against Fisher, Minelab, Bounty Hunter, Tesoro and many others. That's good policy, as it helps keep the costs of all the units down. :)

Below is a summary of ONE full year using my GTP 1350......

I field tested the prototype and production model for Garrett and the information you have been fed is totally in error. We get a lot of this bad mouthing of Garrett by people who have never used or owned one or people who bought one and couldn't figure out how to use it. Before this forum there was the Garrett Classroom which I ran for a couple of years and I ran into this a lot.

The 1350 is one ofthe best coin and jewelry machines out there. If you can't find these items with one then you should take up bowling as a hobby. There is a slight learning curve with the 1350 which seems to be insurmountable for some. Everyone that owns one and knows how to use it is tickled pink.

My answer is short but sweet. I love my 1350, if I were to sell all the coins I have found in to years at Red Book price, I could just about pay for my 1350.
