Need your opinion for my first MD purchase.

I have been wanting to get into this hobby for some time now. I have recently come across the opportunity to purchase what I feel are 3 quality machines, but i only need 2 of them. I'll most likely get a CZ-21 in great condition for around $600. I live close to a saltwater bay and have 3-4 beaches within minutes so this seems like a good choice. I also want to hunt for Civil War relics, and coin shooting. My options for the land hunting are a Whites M6 for $400 and the AT Pro for $500. The M6 is used in really great shape and the AT Pro was opened but never used. It's really hard to tell from all of the sites out there which of these is the better buy for what I want to do with them. I'm asking for your input as most of you have been doing this for decades. Thanks for any input that you might have.

Since you've been wanting to break into the hobby maybe you should start at the bottom and work your way up!

Do the other two machines have any warranty on them?

Having said that the AT Pro can do the beach and can do the Civil War Relics and coins and you will only have to learn one machines language.

Get an upgrade on it by 12/31/11 and you will have another years warranty. And you want have any problems selling it if you decide to break out of the hobby.

Just my thoughts.

M6 is basically a step ahead of an entry level unit.

CZ21 is a superior saltwater unit made basically for this type of hunting.

AT pro is a multi facetted unit that will hold its own with units costing 2 or 3 times and judging from your post is like new and should have some of its transferrable warranty left so to me would be the no brainer choice but again its your call...

I would definitely go with the at pro over the m6..... Whites makes awesome detectors but the at pro is a better detector than the m6.... if it was between an at pro or an mxt, then it would be a toss up.. IMHO

Yeah...I was tossed up over saving for an MXT Pro or getting the Fall Special from Kellyco on the AT Pro...well...I am impatient for one, and just could not turn down the deal on the AT Pro...Plus it opens up an area of detecting I never have done before...shallow water detecting and possibly snorkel or hooka diving...

HH,

Yeah i forgot about that Fall deal going on with the AT PRO... I would get the AT PRO right now too over the MXT or MXT PRO

Thanks for the input everyone. I'm leaning toward the CZ-21 and the AT Pro. With those two machines I'll have salt and freshwater covered as well as land with the AT.

I just paid for my new machine a few minutes ago. I got a used AT Pro with the upgrades and 21 months left on the warranty for $425 shipped. Now I just need to get it from the delivery guy before my wife sees it.

i think you made a good decision on choosing the PRO. i found, and bought, one for my grandson in the same condition and price as yours for my grandson last month.

The Whites are good detectors but Garret is much lighter! Whites upper end detectors light M6 MXT etc are anywhere from 4lb to 4.75Lbs, otherwise they are greatd etectors. BUT the AT Pro is also
a good detector and less expensive than the Whites. Sorry Whites, but that's how it is.
