need to get get headphones on Excalibur

If you want to go cheap and easy-peasy, I bought a set of Peltors off the 'bay for $20 and skinned the yellows off my out of warranty Excal II and fit the parts into the red and black muffs, hot glued the connecting wire to the cross band and in an hour made a HUGE improvement in sound wuality and a very long sentence!

I also did the Pel tor mod, following the video on utube by Joe Beechnut ("Minelab Excalibur Headphone Pel tor 105 Mod"). I believe it voids the Excal warranty however. The ambient noise suppression in these is better than my Grey Ghost Underwater phones. There is no cutting/splicing of wires, it is very easy to do, especially if you have access to a Dremmel.

Once you upgrade your headphones, it will feel like your machine is turbocharged.

I have a Brand new pair of the stock yellow headphones plus the single wire plug I will give away for free if someone pays the postage. The headphones were taken off my Excal before I ever used them by the Kellyco mod team.

Your a good Man Goodmore! Great deal for anyone needed a repair.

I called minelab and was told there would be a diagnosis fee per hour but they had no idea how many hours it would take, plus parts, then more labour charges to put the headphones on. I told them I would take my buiness elsewhere.

I would NEVER have tried to mod my headphones without OBNs video help. Joe you are the man! If a guy like me who has not done it before, can make the mod in an hour, the service guys can in a lot less! To be fair, I have only heard good things about the Kco Excal service team. A business does need to make cost of doing business and a profit on sales margin and/or billing for service hours.

Dave and Barry do good work at Kelleyco. They have improved repairs 1000 percent. Normally they can give you a quote...... but if you dont know what kind of problems you have then obviously they cant tell you until they open it up. I dont think any repair for me has been over and hour and a half and that includes pressure testing.

Thanks to Joe ive got great headphones. Now i have to ask TH...... i thought the GGA were dive ready. You found out the same thing i did lol. I have to be honest, thats one thing the yellows seem to have over other phones......... you can dive with them with confidence. I can take some pretty good waves with the ones i put together......... but id loose a bet that they are dive ready.

Sweet deal on those yellows.......... just add a CTX plug and you are $150 to the good.

I went with the underwaters. I knew there was a mod to increase the volume of the headphones with the underwaters.
