Need T2 5" DD Coil Reviews Please

Hello Fellas,
Got a 5" dd coil for my T2 coming in the mail. Just curious how well it does in heavy trash areas for those who have one and used it quite a bit. Did it perform as well as you expected for a smaller coil? Thanks for any information and have a great day. Keep on diggin:)

Frank

The 5'' coil is a real deadly coil on trashy sites, the depth from this coil always amazes me,mine is used mainly on roman sites which can have alot of trash and the only coil that will hit the decent finds is the 5'' coil,of course it pinpoints like a laserbeam. Most folks never give it a try but those that do will alway continue to use them they are that good, also use mine to get in between stubble when the crops come off.

Me personally for its size rate it very very highly

Thanks Mega B. I have several local parks here and one that is 110 years old. It has been hunted quite a bit over the years but as much trash is in the ground im sure they is still a lot of silver yet to be found. IThe bi-axial coil that came with the T2 is a good coil and has great separation for its size, however, its not meant to be used in a very heavy trash site. I cant wait to use it and again thank you for the information. Keep on diggin:)

In trashy park sites like you have mentioned then the 5'' coil will be lethal,it really is a quality coil and possibly the best and most underated coil for the T2 that is produced by the company.

Mega by chance have you ever tried the 8x6 sef coil for the T2? I know a lot of folks here in the states have used the 10x12 however there are no dealer here that even carry the 8x6 and thats a shame. I would have figured they would have the 8x6. Thanks

Frank

I have used the SEF 8x6 coil on the T2 and i also use one full time on my DFX,they are a very nice coil as they do give you more ground coverage of course and better depth as well, but for really trashy sites that you originally want to do the 5'' coil is possibly the best option.

You will love the 5" coil. I do.

I absolutely love the 5" DD coil on my T2. In fact, it stays on my machine most of the time. We have an old fairground here that goes back 150 years, and is still in use today! I love hunting that place and so many great things have come out of there, but the amount of trash is staggering!! The 5" may take a lot longer to cover ground with, but it is a real treasure "divining rod" in that heavy trash. It gets very good depth, and you can work around all the bottle caps and pull tabs without breaking a sweat! You will not regret purchasing it!

Chuck,i think that about sums it up how good the 5'' coil is,will be using mine again this weekend.

Thanks Guys,
All I can say is wow. The 5" coil is superb and man does it get in between the trash as you guys said. I am really impressed by its depth as it was able to hit every target in my brother in laws 23 year old test garden. This is one of the best small coils I have ever used and yes it does seem to be underrated. This coil is a keeper for sure and using it more so now than the stock bi-axial coil. Have a great day and keep on diggin.

Frank, glad the 5'' coil ticks all the boxes for you,was out again with mine over the weekend, and it is a pleasure to use, most folks when they buy the T2 ltd that comes with the free 5'' coil in the package sell them on E bay without even taking them out of the packaging, how anyone can come to a verdict on a coil without using it is beyond me,gut feeling tells me it because of the visual size of the coil that makes the decision for them without seeing what it can actually do.

Of course we know better

Mega B,
Thats fine that they sell them on Ebay and dont use them as it leaves more goodies in the ground for folks like you and me. Between the T2 with 5" coil and a Mark 1 cleaning the parks of coinage will be swift and sure.
Even though its 30 years old this year the Mark 1 is still one of the top 5 best detectors to use in parks. Its ultra slow sweep speed and its notch work wonders along with the superb audio. Just a slight movement of the Mark 1 needle on the analog meter can tell the user a lot about what target is under the coil.

I totally agree with what you say about some of the early machines,i still use my old Arado120b from the late 70s,it was in its time one of the very best machines going, albeit it these days it looks prehistoric design wise, but like yourself the meter was pretty accurate and on a few of my roman/saxon sites it still can keep up with the best of them today, albeit they weigh a ton and not very user friendly but still great fund to use non the less.

But modern machines like the T2 are light years a head, but as they say a fine tune can still be played on a old fiddle
