Need Sov help please........

The Sovereign Elite is a discontinued model that was on the older S rod that uses the same great battery set up the GT uses. The GT is the new model that is on the straight rod for better balance and now has a switch so those that like the silent search mode and now just flip a toggle switch instead of taking the control box apart to modify it. One of the better features that has been added to the GT was that switch, another was they put the controls back in the better position like the older Sovereign were and easy to get at, the Elite controls seem to get bumped too easy and knocked out of adjustment. The GT now added a track switch so those that want to hunt in all metal can do this and can be used for some prospecting too that the Elite could not be. On the Elite was a toggle switch for single tones or multi tones which to me and many was defeating the purpose of the Sovereign running in single tones. Both had a freq switch if you run into some electrical interference the freq could be switched between freq 1 or 2. The GT has also a switch that the iron mask can be turned on or off while the Elite did not. All the Sovereigns other than the original and the GT had the iron mask on all the time. Iron mask off make it false less when around iron, but also can not see good targets in with iron like when it is on. I leave mine on all the time and do well with it.
On my own personal findings I find the GT is more sensitive that then Elite as i do get fooled by iron a little more with the GT as it sounds like a deep coin, but find going around these targets at a different angle can tell in most cases if it is iron.
To me I have used all the Sovereigns and find this new GT is the one I feel is the best of the Sovereigns, but also one that may be harder for those that are new with the Sovereigns to learn. The reason is all the different toggle switches that will confuse many over the older Sovereigns. Once they used it for a while they will find that the GT is really a detector that can be used in different type of hunting and easy to set up for your type of hunting.
Any of the Sovereigns are great detectors and will do well for you, but you have to have the patience to learn it.
Here is a great site for the different Sovereigns and different coils and such you may find interesting.
