We're going back up toward <STRONG>Morehead, KY</STRONG> for the week of the <IMG SRC="/metal/html/flag.jpg" BORDER=0 width=32 height=17 ALT="usa~"> <FONT COLOR="#ff0000"><STRONG>Fourth</STRONG></FONT> <IMG SRC="/metal/html/flag.jpg" BORDER=0 width=32 height=17 ALT="usa~"> to stay with Shelley's Ma and new "Pappy". <img src="/metal/html/lol.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":lol">
GOODNESS!! That's just two weeks away now! <IMG SRC="/metal/html/blink.gif" BORDER=0 width=18 height=18 ALT="b~">
"Doug" owns an entire little valley (he calls it a 'holler') and the surrounding hills up in there. It's been in their family since it was homesteaded way back in the late 1700's and he "knows" it's never been hunted before.
By the way, Doug's the fella I mentioned last winter for whom we were trying to find his momma's lost family jewelry. But we got snowed out when we tried last Thanksgiving. I posted a picture of him once trying out detecting with Shelley's MXT when they visited here in the early spring.
Anyway, I already know it's real hilly and rocky up there, but we will try again to see if we can find the "<STRONG>lost family treasure</STRONG>" that those house robbing thieves tossed in the woods during their getaway. We'll also try to hunt around <STRONG>the old homestead</STRONG> (if the creek water is down), maybe <STRONG>around the tobacco fields</STRONG> (they'll be planted) and <STRONG>an old school house site</STRONG> from the late 1800's that Doug attended as a kid back in WWII (and his Momma before him), that's not too far away from the valley.
That's our only definite plans for now. They should take of three of the five days we'll be there.
I'll be flying the Whites <STRONG>DFX</STRONG> and Shelley will be on her <STRONG>MXT</STRONG>.
Sooo....Is there anything in particular we should know about that area in regards in mineralization, settings, coil selection or preference, tools etc.?!! Any other places of interest to check out (even if they aren't detector related)?
Any and all help is appreciated as everyone here well knows!
I DO remember, from my last short visit up there, that it's gonna be a LOT tougher digging than it is in our easy sandy soil down here. We may even have to wear gloves and get knee-pads; items we've NEVER had to use before, but I'm not sure.
Thanks in advance for any help. We'll take pictures to share when we go! <img src="/metal/html/lol.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":lol">
Ya'll Pass a Good Time!
