Need some help IDing this buckle if possible.
Found a few weeks ago while water hunting a river up here in Ontario Canada. Found only
1 reference saying it was a rare sash buckle. Lion on one side, eagle on other side. Writing on bottom
says Union is Strength.
Back inscribed W & B's patent reversible buckle.
Any info appreciated

Gilt brass sash buckle, US Civil War-period (early 1860s), found in the United Kingdom, rare. 19.6 grams, 2-1/4" x 1-3/4". Intact and well-detailed piece showing a lion and an eagle flanking a central oval medallion, the back printed with W&B's / PATENT REVERSIBLE BELT, much gilding remaining, a design associated with US Civil War use yet this particular specimen found overseas. with original article about a similar specimen in Treasure Hunting magazine (August, 1999).

Wow ! :surprised: first I've ever heard of this type. It seems to be in pristine condition for being in the water ? Find of a lifetime.
