Found this ladder badge type item in a Union campsite, but can't find any information on it at all. It appears to be brass or bronze, including the clip, and both sides have drinking toasts:

First picture shows and angel on the main piece with the toast "Here's to love, the only fire against which there is no insurance." The triangular piece reads "Here's to our wives & sweethearts, may they never meet.

Second picture shows a man toasting a woman in period dress with the quote "Wine an women, mirth and laughter, sermons and soda the day after." Top of the badge is the U.S. flag with the title "Our Flag". There are 12 stars on the flag and more than thirteen stripes, so that's no help.

If anybody has ever seen one of these and knows the time period it came from, I would greatly appreciate knowing. Thanks!

hi tioga, i found a similar badge years ago that had more pieces to it. it turned out to be an 1880's era temperance society badge. almost the same sayings and general look. i found it in an old friend's yard, he asked for it so i gave it to him. i think i will soon re-visit the old place and get a pic of it. hope it helps, hh,

Found one very similar with advertising and images from the 1905 World's Fair on an old closed E-bay auction.

The Badge is very interesting, I found one just like it a couple of years ago. Keep us posted if you find out anything about it.
