Myself and a group of guys have been hunting along an old road bed, looking for a Confederate Calvary camp. This camp has eluded everyone for years and years, we think we are getting close. My friend found this buckle and we can't find anything on it. It is stamped copper, same size as a US oval with no hooks or indication of any. Any Clues? Thanks for any help!!
 
Heart Stopper!!!!! Looks like decorative piece, no evedence of attachement devices? Looks old but it is stamped "Copper"?
 
I think he meant its copper, stamped with the decoration.
If there is no evidence of it actually being a buckle, probably wasn't a buckle. Not for sure WHAT it was/is, but I wouldn't mind finding it.
 
Is it possible that it was designed to cover a U.S. buckle since you said it is the same size? Maybe the reason for no evidence of attachment?
