Could this be a connanball? I'm going to weigh it tomorrow. It is approximately 6 inches in diameter and weighs a ton. I'm glad I didn't have to carry it too far.
 
Very cool,looks to be a cannon ball,but dont rule out a meteor!
Now which would you rather have?A Meteor or a canonball?

Looks like a 12 lb. Is that a fuse at the top??? Or is it a solid shot???? These things are safe as long as you don't try to defuse it or drill it out to remove the black powder....don't throw it in a fire!!!!!
 
Finally had a chance to get an accurate weight. It weighs 32.5 lbs. It also appears to be a solid shot. I can't find any plugs of holes on the exterior. I know there were several gun emplacements in the area during the civil war. Maybe this one fell off the cart and rolled down the hill. I'm going to take it to our club meeting tonight. Some of the guys are pretty knowledgeable about civil war stuff.
