I went out coin hunting today with the Explorer around an older home in the country. I found 10 pennies between the house and the drive way about 3 inches deep, but none of them were very old (70's and 80's stuff). However, I found that when ever I got within 5 feet of the home I would get a constant null on my detector. I was using the factory preset setting in the discrimination mode. I also did a noise cancel several times, but this did not help any. The house was probably built in the 1930's and is currently vacant. I was wondering what caused the constant null close to the house, and what settings I could have used to have prevented it. I am assuming that the null was probably caused by old nails and metal in the ground around the foundation, or possibly from the wiring in the house, but I could be wrong. Anyone that can help me out here, it would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like iron, best bet would be to run in iron mask around -10, and go slow.. it might still null but will still seee most good stuff through the null....Jim
