How can you identify Pewter? I have several things that I suspect may be pewter but I don't know how to tell. Thanks for any advice.

I'm not a expert at it but I have casted things out of pewter, its an alloy mix my mix was lead-free it has a low melting point not as soft as lead, over time the alloy turns grayish and pewter that has lead turns black only on older items of pewter, nothing new has the lead it, hope it helps Mr Gee

Thanks Hank. Posted this last week and suspect it might be Pewter but i'm still not sure how to tell for sure.

Yep that is pewter, the marble is placed in the mold and the molten pewter is pour in that's why the marble is embedded in it, what range do you find pewter in?

It showed up in the high penny range (where I usually find pre-1982 coins). It was only about an inch and a half deep nest to a bicycle rack at a school.
