I have had the face plate on my e-trac covered ,but now have the side pieces and cant figure out how they go. It came with 2 smaller pieces and on a little larger. I just cant figure it out. any help waould be appreciated very much..thanks in advance..sonny

Boy, was I disappointed w/ my E-Trac faceplate. Ordered right after it was announced that they made the template. I shocked when I got this small piece of material that only covered the LCD screen area. I certainly expected a piece of material that would cover the whole faceplate. I dont see any reason why they did not produce a full size protector.... I certainly paid a full size price..... Keep this in mind if you are planning to order the Faceplate protective cover....

It is made to prevent the screen and buttons from getting scratched. And for that purpose, it really does a fantastic job.

I have been using the cover now for a couple of months down in Florida on the beaches, in parks and with all the sand there, it is like sandblasting the E-trac. That sand gets on everything especially when wet and is like running sharp glass across the face. I can wipe off the wet sand with my fingers and have not had even a hint of scratching. My buttons look brand new even after many hours of use.

To answer the original question, the larger thin piece is used from the top edge of the USB cable cover to the right side bottom of the E-trac. The other smaller one is from the bottom of the USB cover to the left bottom side of the E-trac. They are to protect the black control box edge of the E-trac if it falls over.

I have heard from others who have been in contact with Minelab that the E-trac is buttoned up pretty well against water infiltration. I have used black duct tape to cover the speaker holes and that is all you really need to keep the E-trac from getting wet inside. I still use a cover I made from a car cover that keeps the water out, just in case if it is going to rain.

I don't work or have any pecuniary relationship with that company. I only wanted something to prevent my E-trac from getting all scratched up. And that it has done very well.

Try This link or go back about 3 pages, http://www.findmall.com/read.php?63,885912,901428#msg-901428 I got my E trac cover and it was the whole front, buttons and all. Are you sure you didn't just order the "screen" when you purchased it??? I'd check their web site and see if you got the wrong one. Mine had a complete face plate and two sides. It works very well. Cut and paste that link if you have to. If you can't get to it, PM me and I'll explain it to you. I e mailed them because I thought they sent the wrong pieces, but they are the right ones.

I am sure they sent me the wrong one... Like I said, the one I received only covers the LCD and half of the buttons on either side.... When I ordered, the was not even an option for the sides. Hope they make good on it... I even waited almost 3 weeks for them to ship my order...What a bummer....

They agreed they sent the wrong one... Sending me the correct one.... Kudos for good customer service.
