Don't see much posted about these detectors, either good or bad. don't see many for sale either and I'm not sure what that means. Any help is appreciated. Thanks and HH. Bob.

The Prizms didn't take off very well. There were other detectors that had the same or better features for less money. But the new Prizm 6t breaks new ground for Whites. Packed with high performance features at a mid range price. I don't have one yet. But as soon as a smaller coil is available I will buy one. I hunt old house sites and tot lots that require a small coil. If I were you I would forget about the P4 or P5 and get the 6T.

I sold my Prizm V & bought a Prizm 6. The ground tracking was the feature that made me do it. The Prizm line is good for beginners to learn with. The weight of these detectors is great for the young and old. Basically it comes down to how much you are bitten by the bug. If you are going to drag your detector out a few times a year, one of the lower Prizms is O.K. If you are thinking of really getting into the hobby & possibly joining a club or hunting with a friend I feel you will be out gunned with a lower Prizm. You get what you pay for. Same as anything else. The key to remember is to practice. Make yourself a test garden. Learn how to get the most out of any detector you buy. A person with experience can kick butt with a lesser model. Also, you are in a hobby that can pay for itself. A few hundred dollars more might make the investment worth it. Have Fun. Let us know which way you decided

I have the V and really like it. I was tyring to thing of something I don't like about it But i can't. It will hunt right along with my X terra X50 but not as deep but very close, but you can hunt faster with the Prizm V, have found over 200 coins in about 4 outtings 3hr. hunts with it. It's well worth the money, If you get the IV get one with the new soider coil. The new V comes with the 950 coil I think the IV is just as good as the V and cost less money.

R\The prizms are very good little detectors. I started with the V and found a lot of good stuff with it. I up graded to the M6. The only short comings I found with the prizms was a lack of coil selection and the slow recovery speed which made it difficult to separate close targets.

 I agree with you khouse. It should have been a "given" that detectorists want a small "cherry picking" coil ...duh. I am not going to buy one either until I see them come out with a small coil.

Whites doesn't have to do much too much to get accessory coils out. I mean they have the coil dies. They know how much wire to make them with. They have the cables and connectors. It's not like they have to start from scratch. The easiest thing for then to have done was make them run at 6.59 kHz. Maybe they'll start making the new 6t's the old frequency and upgrade the ones already sold? This may save them more money? Heck they could have made them run at 14 kHz too. There's enough of those coils on the shelves. But why 8.2? Well I guess that's why engineers make a lot more money than I do. What do I know? Why wouldn't a manufacturer post all the features of the prototype on the forum? We all could tweak them before they hit production! What about the select few field testers? They have to be avid hunters? Why couldn't they say make it 6.59 or 14 kHz because of all the coils already being made. That would have been the first thing I would have told Mr. White. That was and still is a large problem with all the Prizms.

With all that said I believe the P6t will sell great. I look forward to any and all accessory coils.

I love whites, but, I have a prizm IV and it is a toy. It feels and works just like a $99 detector you would buy at Sears. Maybe the 5 and the 6T are better but my opion of the Prizm IV is that it is junk and I now have a nice Ornament to take up the corner of my room.

Did you have trouble using the detector? What issues did you have with it? Maybe the coil is bad?

The prizm iv does not respond right away to targets.
When I slightly bump the coil down on grass or soil it gives off a signal, but there is no short, I have bumped it all over and wiggled the cord at the connections and and cannot reproduce the effect and it will not pickup a nickel (in air) further than about an inch, no matter what the sensetivity or disc. is set at.
I would like to try another coil to see if the coil is faulty but thats not going to happen.
