hello,i'am going to Arizona in January and going to take my mxt-pro with me to hunt for gold.i need advise on what coils to take?i have the 10x12 sef,6x8sef dd coils was thinking about taking the 6x8 but am wondering if i should get the little 4x6 shooter instead? i'am a experienced detectorist having coin shooted and relic hunted since 1993, but this looking for gold is going to be a whole new ball game for me.thanks.:)

From reading past posts from nugget hunters, it seems the 6X10 was a favorite for hunting tailings and the smaller coils like the 4X6 was the coil by choice for getting between the rocks in hard to get to places like creek beds. I have watched videos of those looking for the bigger nuggets and they were using the largest coils they could get, so I guess it boils down to where and how you are going to hunt. I might suggest contacting a local dealer or club where you intend to hunt and ask what they use and you might even find a guide/hunting buddy to go with. Good luck and keep us posted...

I'd take both so that you are prepared to cover whichever type of ground you end up hunting. I'd think the 6X8 would perform very similarly to the 4X6 shooter which, however, is a great little coil for trashy areas and poking into tight places etc. I love mine. My two bits.
