Need some advise on the F4!

New this machine. Went to the beach and hunted for about 3 hours. Nothing to brag about. I noticed I am getting a lot of 99 / 100 's . I was trying high sens. if I turn it down to 4 bars it is more stable. A lot of them where on the edge of the swings and some in the middle. just wondering is this normal. Did not want the depth but speed. This unit has the push coil connector instead of the normal cb style. I do not know if up grades have been done or I have a problem. Thank you,Joe

Joe,
I have an F4 (which I used today for the first time in over a year). It is a beaut machine, and I have used my at saltwater beaches, but mainly where the sand is dry. You should get good depth with the 11" DD coil, but you need to maintain a steady even swing, controlling that part of swing where you change direction with the coil...it sounds as if that's where the problem with falsing was occurring...dont be afraid to reduce sensitivity if you need to, but slowing down the sweep speed might mean you dont have to reduce sensitivity. I hope to take mine to the beach again in about a month, as I think I get as good depth with it in dry sand as with any of my other (non specific beach) machines. Where you have a mixture of dry sand over wet sand, you probably need to keep it in disc mode, but you should be able to keep the sensitivity fairly high, so long as you keep the coil in check and not try to go too fast. Just my opinion.

Sounds like sensitivity issue to me. I would keep working with that and keep re checking connections.

Hi Joe,

My best advice is to learn how to ignore those one off hits and keep sensitivity high. The hits at the end of your swing can be minimized if you are careful to keep the coil level to the ground.

I will try watching the swing. When i get in the wet it does not like it at all but will try again. Like I said I am not to worried about going deep. The main thing is to get about 8 to 10 inches on a quarter. Thanks agian,Joe
