Hey folks,
Rocky, if this should be moved to another Forum, please do so.
Thanks in advance for any assistance that y'all may be able to help me with.
I am a Math teacher in south-central Arkansas. We got a new superintendent this year, and as he and I have visited he has gotten more and more interested in metal detecting for Civil War relics. In fact, one of the reasons I'm trying to help him is that his family owns land that had a relatively large battlefield and before and after camps on it ( at least for Arkansas, it is a decent sized battle). Just being honest here..... he's wanting me to go with him to hunt it. But, he wants to buy his own metal detector instead of borrowing one of mine.
He doesn't want to spend a whole lot of money until he realizes he's going to enjoy it or not. He wants a good mid-range detector that he can learn on..... one that doesn't have a big learning curve. But, at the same time, he wants one good enough that he can learn enough to become competent at detecting relics. I'm thinking one that is more of a "turn on and go" detector with auto ground balance that would be also good at detecting relics. My relic hunting buddy has a Tesora Cibola, and he is finding a bunch of relics with it, so I'm thinking something along that line, or an Ace 250, or an F4 or such as these machines. Whichever may be the better relic machine.
Would anyone have any suggestions? Does anyone have anything like this that they might consider selling. He mentioned spending in the $250.00 to $350.00 range. Again, thanks to all, and to ARH for such a great site that even things like this may be discussed and dealt with.
