Need settings suggestions

I am leaving Monday for the panhandle of Florida for 4 days of beach hunting. We will hunt the water during the daytime and the dry/wet sand at night. This will be my first time hunting the beach in over 30 years of MD'ing. I am excited and I am expecting good results with the CTX. My question is what mode do I hunt in? I know to use an open screen, but is the a difference between beach mode and coin mode with an open screen? And what about deep and recovery settings.I understand about reducing the sensitivity in manual if needed. I have my Gray Ghost waterproof headphones for the water. All help is greatly appreciated.

Start out in factory beach mode. This will give you deep on low trash and 50 tone conductive. All you have to do when in factory modes is hit the detect button and this will give you an open screen. Set the sensitivity in auto +3. You can change any of these but these settings are good to start with. I like 4 tone at the beach myself in case you want to try it. Take a good scoop. Put in target trace and target trace pin point. Watch your cursor and you will soon learn where some of the better targets show up. Start out digging everything as this will help you with what the machine is doing. There should be some more users comment. Hopefully this will get you started. Good luck and HH :minelab:

The manual (pg 22, in the NOTE) recommends that GROUND BALANCE be disabled for beach hunting.

Thanks for the replys. As far as ground balance goes, I was under the impression that it should be disabled except in highly mineralized soil.I have the RTG 6 inch scoop. Thanks again.

Max that hunted VA beach a lot with his said that if he got in a area with a lot of falsing. Ground coin would run better where there was falsing in the was and waves.

Max told me he sold his CTX. He now has an Xterra 705. I'm not sure why he changed but that is why you don't see his vids anymore. You have to go to YouTube and look him up to whatch them. That's what I do cause I really like his beach videos.

Thanks guys. I'll play with different settings . This will be more of a learning experience.

I now have his CTX. "super heater"

I was wondering what happened with them!!! I also read a post on here where I believe it was Jason in my state bought a somewhat famous "heater". I was suspicious when I put 2 and 2 together. I have been missing his posts!!!

I thought it was your post I saw. How is it doing for you? I am taking mine UNDER a house built in 1849 today. The kitchen area was added in the 1920's so there should be 70 ish years of virgin ground under there, from way before detectors were around.

Joe have only got to use it a few times so far so I can't tell you to much yet. Next week I should get in thirty to forty hours hunting with the super heater in the lane. Still has several of Max's programs on it. I have known him for years Max is a great guy bought a used excal from him a couple years ago. And still have a big yellow beach scoop he sent me. He is still doing videos keep checking him out.
