Hi all - I read the forum every day and enjoy seeing your finds. I was detecting a neighbor's yard the other day and he got all excited and decided he was going to "help" me dig targets - with his garden shovel. Long story, short: the shovel got dropped on my detector and snapped the shaft. There is a piece that slides into the lower shaft assembly that connects to the coil with two finger-tighten bolts. This is the piece that snapped. It is only about 6" long and connects to the lower shaft with two plastic rivets. Can anyone tell me where to get a replacement piece for my XS? Will I have to get a whole new lower shaft assembly? Thanks in advance. You guys (and gals) are awesome.

No easy fix for the broken shaft Todd, you need to purchase a Carbon Fibre bottom shaft, it fits

all of the Explorer Models, you may also need the fixing bolts and washers, and buy your neighbor

a small plastic trowel.

Merry Christmas

Les.

Is the actual shaft broken or the nylon bolt that holds the coil to the lower shaft. For parts try a local Minelab dealer if there is one, or you could call Sun Ray Detector Electronics, and Ralph should be able to help you. They are in Iowa and he is a Minelab dealer. There is an ad and link for them on this website. Or call Minelab's repair facility in Chicago.Good Luck.
