Need program help for hunting iron infested sites

I have been having great success with the V3 when I can get out relic hunting and finding stuff in all my old pounded sites at like 14" Minnie's, etc.

I use only high pro mode but now I need to find a way to set this machine up to work in heavy iron sites like civil war camps but mainly old home sites.

I have the 5.3, 950, stock DD and 12". I will eventually get the 4X6 and possible 6X10.

Testing the V3 on my wood floor like I usually test machines for fast response and recovery so far can't come up with a setup that knocks out the nails but picks up the goodies.

I have found some buttons, a token, etc. in pretty bad sites but feel I could get a lot more with the right setup and narrow my arsenal down to one or two machines if someone has a good program.

This detector is so versatile I can't imagine someone has not figured a combination of settings that will pull the goodies out of iron so if you have please share.

This is one phenomenal detector and so far that is my only shortcoming with it and I think it is me not the machine.

Search for Magic's program. There are several threads on using no discrimination and setting the audio to zero or very low like 5 Hz for the VDI's you do not want to listen to.

Try using correlate and and a fast recovery delay like 45. Try using zero discrimination. Set the VDI you want to discriminate to a zero tone. Magic sets his ferrous VDI to a low tone like 5. That is so he knows the iron is there. I sounds like a Geiger counter. I have pulled many targets out of a hole with a nail in the same hole.

I don't try to not hear the iron, I just want to also hear the desired target. Knowing the iron might be affecting the VDi helps determine if I want to dig.

Magics program is definately the way to go. I have worked some old homesites with my DFX that would just drive you crazy there was so much iron. With Magics program on my V3i I now only hear the 'ticking" sound when it encounters iron targets I have set the tone to 5 as Magic suggested. Much less noise to deal with and the good targets still come thorugh. Depth with Magics program using 3 freq. is very good.:detecting:

Magic's program and my Hi Pro programs are very similar. They are deep programs. I think

We have a great search feature on Finds to help you find past info. I typed in Magic's program and this is one of many responses;

Having a small DD fills an important niche and Magics Program (with minor tweaking as to changing needs) is so important to this machine.
