Tax Rebate will be here soon, and with the money I've saved up i will soon be ready to order a new tesoro.
Have narrowed it down to two detectors.
(1) Tesoro Tejon with 2 extra coils 5.75,+ 3.6" x 18" clean sweep and rain cover.
(2) Tesoro Cortes With 1 extra coil the 5.75 and the rain cover.
I Live in south central Pennsylvania, will be doing coin/jewelry/relic Hunting

I don't know why anyone would leave out the best jewelry finder?

But they always do.

One Compadre, for the price of a COIL????

You can not beat it in a tot lot.

It's the absoluite king.

Just a thought,

I would suspect you will be receiving several different opinions on this question. What experience do you now have with what type of detectors? Do you prefer a detector with TID or a non TID unit? Whatever responses you get to this question will most probably be personal opinions and those opinions will be based on a personal "comfort" level with a particular type of detector. As mentioned by Tabdog you could buy a Compadre for not too much more than just a coil and have an excellent detector for areas where trash is a problem and a small coil is necessary if you are comfortable not having TID. That would allow you to purchase the Tejon and perhaps the clean sweep coil. If you plan to do much relic hunting in my opinion the Tejon would be the better fit although the Vaquero is also pretty close fit.
However, if your preference is TID than the Cortez may be correct choice.

My Past experience is with the Tesoro Bandito 2 umax and the whites 6000di pro.
TID/NonTID doesn't matter, Wondering which one of these two ( Tejon or Cortes) would be the better all round detector,
or primary detector..?

Well................

Just my opinion, but.............there is no best all around detector. You gave two choices, and with just those two choices you are going to be able to scan across the treasure field best with the Tejon, especially if you are in a higher mineralized area. It seems the area you are talking about spending is $800. A good choice, like tabdog said, would be the Tejon for relics and gold, maybe a 7" (either coil) and a Compadre as a coin bandit. Unless your going for cache's, the large coil isn't a great choice. The Cortez is a better turn on and go detector and the Tejon takes time to master. I have a Deleon and a Compadre, a perfect match up for my searches. If TID is of concern, you could look at the Deleon over the Cortez unless you need GB or night hunt. Same electronics and larger display, though not as defined. You could get two coils and still be in the same price range.

There is a Vaqauro on the classified forum for a good price ( looks like a nice machine ) , it's a close second to the Tejon .

Are you primarily a relic hunter, or a coin hunter? Do you hunt rugged woods and back roads, or parks and yards and such? The type of machine you get should be determined by your hunting environments. I can help you answer those questions if you want to talk about it. Shoot me an email.
