Very interesting story.Any way,I need any info.
about this machine,White's 4900/DL MAX.Thank you in advance.

Basically it's a 5900 without the meter. I used one for a few years and even used it for gold prospecting in Alaska. Good performance in bad ground.

I had a 4900 black box, my first detector . I wish i never sold it. They are very sensitive .It could find the smallest of ear rings. It had a hard time at the beach. But that machine had found more stuff than my 2 newer machines combined. It has a adjustment ability to fine tune and and pick up very small jewelry. That machine kept me only buying Whites. I was once read that the cable to the coil should be uniformly wrapped in circles and not crossing itself ,up and into the control box. It has a very accurate pin pointing button at top of handle. Its a great low price range machine for hunt by sound metal detecting.

I used one a friend owned. Been awhile but I remember that it was a nice machine.
Anyway, if you don't have the manual, go to the "Metal Detecting Forum" section of Findmall and at the top you can find manuals. Go to the White's section, then to the older White's.
It looks to be in very nice condition. I would re-do the coil cord wrap though - that might take a minute out of your day.
Nice find on the detector.
