Hi I'm trying to purchase a new Etrac and I will like to know little about the diferences on coils so I can make the best choise-purchase. Can anyone here post some of the diferences or preferences on these 2 coils? the WOT 15" and the SEF 15X12 for the Etrac.
thank you.
Abel
The 15x12 is lighter and most say is more stabile at higher sensitivity settings. It also (I've owned one) has a very sharp detection field, making left/right seperation very good for a coil of it's size. The 12x10 has an even sharper detection field width wise. I'm simply amazed at how well this coil seperates targets. Never seen anything like it.
The 15X12 may be lighter, but it is still a heavy coil. If you decide to buy it, you should think about getting a Swingy Thingy harness to help with the weight. Without the Swingy Thingy, the longest I can use my 15X12 is about 45 min to an hour. The SEF coil has excellent depth and of course ground coverage. It's a beast at the beach and field hunting as long as the area you are hunting is fairly clean of trash and Iron. I have not used the 15" WOT, so I cannot provide a comparison.
Without a coil cover the 15x12 is lighter than the 10" Tornado on the Sovereign. I used spray on bed liner on mine and didn't find the weight to be an issue. However, from what posted weights I have gathered (I put together a FBS and BBS coil weight chart with weights recorded by actual users) the FBS versions of the SEF coils are heavier than the BBS versions.

Critterhunter - I was talking about the FBS version of the coil. I do not have the exact weight of the coil, but I would estimate that the 15X12 SEF Butterfly coil is at least 50% heavier then the stock 11" Pro Coil. At least, that is what my sore back and arms are telling me after I used it the first time without a Swingy Thingy.
Thank you all for your comments on this, like on last time that I needed help on my other machine (Soverign GT) with a diferent coil, I follow your recomendations and I'm very please with the results on the SEF 15X12, it is amaze of the finds that I got on last weekend, No silver but i hit a 1944 weat penny at 11" and the tone was solid like a horn and a 1966 quarter at 10" and the same a biutifull tone,
Critterhunter, Again, Thank you thanks to your advice I got what I need it. and E TREC Virginia too!! I will make my desicion before the KelliCo SEF Social sale is Over.
