Need ID help on this item please

I found this item while hunting an old home site a couple of weeks ago and don't have clue what it is.
A fellow detectorists I know found two identical to this one at a different site and he also doesn't have a clue as to what they are part of.
Anyone have any ideas as to what they may be?
They are either brass or bronze and quite sturdy.
Thanks in advance for any and all help,
Felix

The base seems to have curvature on the back side, how about one of those riveted to opposite sides of a pot for the handle to attach to? HH Joe

I also have one of these which I think came with a box or relics my father won at an auction in Hopewell, VA in 2004. But my item is attached to a thin sheet of brass as seen in this photo.

I agree with FW, my camp pot has the same fittings with a heavy wire handle so you can carry it or hang it over the fire.

I think this is part of a brass pail that the handle goes through. Not sure what its called but found a picture of it on the web. I'll try to include it in this post.
