Need honest opinions on the Prizm II

Looking for a grab and go unit to coin and jewlery hunt at parks and fresh water beaches. I am trying to decide between a Prizm II and a Tesoro Silver U-max. Anyone who have used both please tell me which you think is the deeper of the two in your opinion, and the best for what I have described.

I don't have any of the prizm models as I use the MXT and XLT.
I think I would go the extra mile and get the M6 as it seems to have very good reviews.
It's just a notch lower than the MXT and likely you'd be happier with it.
The places you'd hunt in could well covered with the M6.

Must be an older P2 as Whites discontinued them. But I have used it and the Silver uMax. For me between the two I would pick the P2. Why? Well I found short of thumbing the disc knob on every target with the Silver it was a "beep dig" detector. Nothing wrong with "beep dig". At least you get it all. But with the P2 you have the choice to "beep dig" or be a little selective. Really they both weigh about the same. SS uMax is 2.2 lbs and the P2 is 2.5 lbs. Both have the same depth with similar coils. The P2 can also ID targets in the true all metal mode. This mode is accessed by pushing the PP button and releasing. The P2 comes with an 8 inch coil that is good for coin shooting. Soon to be released is a little DD shooter coil from Whites. That will make all Prizm owners happy.

Carl in the official Whites forum has said that Whites will revisit the Prizm line when time allows. To me that means that the line will be updated for better performance. Better ground tracking is a good place to start.

Prizms are good no matter how some people bag them out. They have great iron discrimination and knock out more iron than many top liners.
They have proven to be a popular machine over in Australia and have gained a good rep for working amongst thick iron infested sites in mineralised ground.
Some people reckon others have as much or more to offer for less price but I like them and use them when I get into the worst of junk areas for coins and relics. They handle our bad ground over here in Oz no probs and the Prizm 6T goes over any of our bad ground with ease. It tracks everywhere I have taken it.

In my opinion the notch on all the Prizms except the 6t is not what I would like. They should simply make the 3,4 and 5 Prizms where you can accept or reject any or all notches. Do away with the "smart notch" Let us decide what notches we want. If they want to really sell Prizms they need more coils! Big ones and little ones. I hope they get that little Prizm coil out soon because I'll buy a 6t when they do.

I gotta agree with what you say about the notch part on the ones up to the 5. It would make them better, the 6T has it and its great.
