Need Help!!

Hi Guys,

I am a new guy, looking to get into metal detecting, becuase it seems like a fun hobby. I have a few questions for you guys. First off, I want to use the metal detector at the beach, and would like to possibly put it and the headphones under a few feet of water. But, I also want to use it for land use and on the beach sand as well. My price range is $800 and below. I really have no idea how these things work or anything like that, so I would love some adivce and possibly some direction on what all the little butoons and knobs do. Thanks again for all the help and suggestions. BTW, I was looking at the Whites BeachHunter ID and the SurfPro, if that helps. Which one would better suit me? Or is there a different one altogether that would be much better for me? Let me know.

Thanks very much again!!

A PI PRO on land or dry sand will put you in the hospital and you will lose your hearing, from getting blasted by signals from EVERY metallic target you encounter. As far as operations of the particular unit, ask Beach Hunter. He is the Beach Hunter ID guru on this forum. I think He runs it in all metal and watches the lights to decide whether to dig the target or not. If you could come up with another $300, you could get an Excal. You might want to save up some and just buy the bomb! I own both versions (800 & 1000) of it and they work. If you want to hunt in the park, it works there too.
