Just bought a Excal how do I need to set it up to hunt in iron loaded water sites?

Try disc 1, sens 7, threshold to your liking volume full bore disc mode. Swing slow. Man do I miss my Excal days! Awesome machine great audio. Good luck I look forward to your videos

Disc mode on, you may want to start with sensitivity in auto mode till you get the feel of it..otherwise I start with sensitivity straight up 12 o’clock and back it down from there as needed.. volume full, threshold set to mosquito buzz... iron should give a grunt sound or spit and sputter sound ...larger rounder iron will unfortunately often give a good signal but you can tell it’s iron usually by sweeping over the target with the coil raised and no decrease in signal intensity... actually iron should null but your still gonna dig some... auto sensitivity is you best bet for starting off.. should take you very little time to get the feel of it...good luck...

When I started using the Xcal I ran in auto sensitivity. Now I adjust sensitivity to where it only falses once in a while. However a deep bottle cap can sound like a good target A shallow one will break up a bit. Good luck at the beach.

Once you learn the tones.....have it moded to add a PP switch. Huge advantage. You can run full sensitivity wit no falsing, there is no recovery time in iron or a lot of trash they can be slow to recover. That added sensitivity allows for more depth.....reverse disc let’s you hunt in TRUE AM and you use disc like a PP to ID targets once found
