This is for all you Tesoro experts out there, what machine is the best for dry sand in Florida and land, I heard the Tesoros are very light and fast response but they make so many, which one is best???????????
thanks
John

John- Right now I have an ancient Bounty Hunter but it is not a very good machine. I have been researching Tesoros for several months and have settled on the Silver umax. Hopefully mine will be ordered next week.

qicpic,
Well ... best machine for dry sand and the land is pretty broad. Don't know if there are price limitations either, but that aside, I'll give you my opinion on some of what I use for beach and land work in fairly mild soil conditions.

If you don't mind digging a lot of foil in hopes of some gold and like relics as well as coins, then I'd lean towards a Tejon. I use mostly two coils on the Tejon; the cleansweep and the 5.75 inch concentric. Third coil by use is the standard 9 x8 concentric. Depends on where I am hunting and the trash conditions. The Tejon has been one of the best gold finders I've used; but a lot of trash gets dug too!

I've got a beach trip coming up in a couple of weeks and plan to pack the Tejon with the 3.6 x 18 inch cleansweep for the dry sand, the CZ6a for wetsand and the dry to wet transition / blanket line area, and a PI detector for the water and some wet sand detecting. Can work the Tejon a little into transition area. Can even use it over the wet saltwater sand, but with a pretty significant depth loss once things get wet and the salt is the largest conductive target the coil sees.

If your main interest is hunting coins or your goal is to minimize trash digging, including foil, I'd look for a multi-tone / target ID detector.

I use a Tesoro El Dorado UMax when I go to Florida (which I will be back again next month) and it does a great job in DRY sand and does a decent job (not the best nor worse) in WET sand. On land it is a beast at coin shooting. You can still find them if not Vaquero was the upgrade to it.

I also use a Tesoro Compadre on the beach in DRY sand but in WET sand it is not at all good highly do not suggest it in wet sand, and on land it can be pretty good once you get the hang of it and in a Tott lot the Compadre is the King IMO.
